IT Infrastructure Architect at Stockholm University
The IT department at Stockholm University consists of approximately 120 employees who have an overarching responsibility for Sweden's largest university IT environment.
This includes developing/managing/deploying and monitoring platforms, systems, and services that support academia, education, research, and administration.

Responsibilities
As an IT Infrastructure Architect, you will be responsible for designing, further developing, and quality assuring the architecture for our identity and access solutions, our cloud-based services, and our overall IT environment. You will work closely with both technical specialists and the business to ensure that our solutions meet the university's requirements for security, functionality, and future sustainability.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Analyzing requirements and needs
- Design and development of solutions within identity & access management, including authentication flows and federation solutions
- Architecture and modernization of Active Directory and integrations with Azure AD/Microsoft Entra ID
- Design and implementation support of Zero Trust strategies and security architecture
- Technical advice and support to projects, operations, and development
- Documentation of architectural decisions and target architectures
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with broad technical expertise and the ability to switch between strategy and practical implementation. To succeed in this role, we believe you have:
- At least 10 years of practical experience in IT infrastructure, IT architecture, or similar
- A degree in a relevant field, such as computer science/information systems, or equivalent competence acquired in another way
- Experience in developing and implementing IT infrastructure architecture with a focus on scalability, security, best practices, and performance
- Experience in system integration, microservices architecture, and API management
- Deep knowledge of authentication, identity platforms, and protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect)
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, federation services, and modernization towards cloud identities
- Good understanding of Azure architecture, cloud security, and platform design
- Strong insight into Zero Trust models, segmentation, policy governance, and security principles
Personal qualities:
You have the ability to translate a strategic perspective into technical direction by creating consensus and anchoring. You also have good communication skills to convey complex technology clearly and pedagogically. Furthermore, you have an organized and structured ability to maintain documentation and guidelines. You have good collaboration skills, easily build relationships, and can effectively collaborate with different teams and stakeholders in the organization.
About the employment
The employment is permanent full-time with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
